About Us

The Molecular Microbiology, Genetics and Microbiome Research Association is a scientific non-governmental organization established to lead the advancement of scientific research in the fields of molecular microbiology, genetics and microbiome sciences, to support the integration of these fields with clinical practice, and to strengthen scientific collaboration at the national and international levels. Headquartered in Ankara, the Association operates both within Turkey and abroad.

The Association regards as a priority the establishment of a multidisciplinary bridge between the basic and clinical sciences, and the widespread adoption of next-generation molecular diagnostic methods, omics technologies and microbiome-based analyses in both research and clinical practice. Within this framework, it aims to contribute to the seroepidemiological, molecular and genetic evaluation of diseases affecting human health, with particular emphasis on infectious diseases.

Our Vision

To be a pioneer of an evidence-based, innovative, and translational scientific environment in which the scientific knowledge generated in the fields of molecular microbiology, genetics, and microbiome sciences is translated into clinical practice, and in which national research capacity is integrated with international networks.

Our Mission

To promote scientific research through a multidisciplinary approach; to contribute to the training of researchers, scientists and health professionals; to support the generation, dissemination, and publication of scientific data; and to provide a sustainable contribution to the development of the field by developing joint national and international projects.

Aims and Objectives

In line with the core aims defined in its charter, the Association focuses on the following objectives:

  • To promote clinical and translational research.
  • To expand the use of next-generation molecular diagnostic methods, omics technologies, and microbiome-based analyses in research and clinical practice.
  • To contribute to the seroepidemiological, molecular, and genetic evaluation of diseases related to human health, particularly infectious diseases.
  • To support studies that elucidate the role of microbiome sciences in disease pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies.
  • To build a bridge between the basic and clinical sciences through a multidisciplinary approach.
  • To contribute to the training of scientists, researchers, and health professionals working in these fields.
  • To organize training programmes, courses, workshops, symposia, and congresses.
  • To support the generation, dissemination, and publication of scientific data.
  • To establish national and international research networks and to develop joint projects.

Our Fields of Activity

The Association operates within Turkey and abroad in the fields of Molecular Microbiology, Genetics, Microbiome, and Epidemiology. Its principal modes of activity are as follows:

  • Conducting scientific research to enable and develop its activities.
  • Organizing educational activities such as courses, seminars, conferences, and panels.
  • Procuring information, records, documents, and publications in pursuit of its objectives, establishing a documentation centre, and issuing publications such as newspapers, journals, books, and bulletins.
  • Carrying out joint work with national and international scientific organizations, participating in research networks, and developing collaborations.
  • Conducting joint projects with public institutions and organizations within the framework of the relevant legislation.
  • Forming platforms with other associations, foundations, and non-governmental organizations in pursuit of common objectives.
